Low-level intricacy with the Stone Stool by Marcel Wanders

Not all hotel bars are created equal. Those that are located in high-end hotels, like the Four Seasons in New York or the Ritz Hotel in London, would understandably have highly dignified, lushly decorated bars where the prices of food and drinks would be astronomical. Small hotels and hostels would probably have much, much more casual bars where you wouldn’t need a reservation to enter, and which you can spend time in even if you’re wearing casual attire. The furniture probably would be a lot more casual too.

The W. W. Stool by Philippe Starck

The W. W. Stool by Philippe StarckPhilippe Starck originally designed this piece for film director Wim Wenders where he required a fantasy office environment as a set piece. There were a few different pieces of furniture that Starck designed for this project, this one being called the WW Stool. Soon after this designed entered production.

The fluid tentacle design was not only designed as a pretty set piece - it does also function as a usable item of furniture although it will normally only be comfortable for users who prefer to almost stand against the bar stool rather than sit down.
