Mobile drinking with the Hossfly V8 Barstool?
The 2008 Hoss Fly machine from a company called California Boss Hoss Motorcycles has been given lots of coverage by blogs everywhere since it was exhibited at the November 2007 Specialty Equipment Market Association’s (SEMA) trade show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Touted as the Hossfly V8 bar stool, it certainly grabbed a lot of attention, not the least of which because it certainly doesn’t look like any of your typical modern hotel chairs.
Probably the reason attendees dubbed as such is because the round seat looks just like a bar stool; at least the part of the bar stool you sit on, minus the legs. They are saying it would be a novel way to belly up to a bar to order a drink, and I agree. I don’t know about the wisdom of driving this motor vehicle after the user has downed a couple of drinks, though. Even though the top speed is only 25 miles per hour, operating it after a session at a bar would still be driving under the influence, wouldn’t it? Plus, the noise the engine makes isn’t exactly conducive to a bar atmosphere. Look at this video and hear it for yourself. Still, it’s bound to attract attention – because of its looks and the noise it makes.
The tank can carry up to five gallons of gasoline, and it’s said to be capable of towing loads weighing up to 2,000 pounds. Here’s an idea: attach something like a U-haul to it and load people who are too drunk to drive home. It’s available in turnkey form or as a kit, for a considerable amount of cash: $8,000, and that’s without the engine.
The Hossfly V8 bar stool motorcycle sure looks like a fun thing to try, but don’t leave common sense at home. Remember, don’t drink and drive is always sound advice, and it’s a message that should come across louder and clearer than this vehicle’s engine.
